Player Talent Scout: Gabriel Veron

Posted on 29th November 2019

The Maracanã is among the most iconic stadiums in world football, and last night it was a fitting location for the first team debut of one of the hottest prospects in South America as Palmeiras winger Gabriel Veron played the final 14 minutes of his sides 1-0 defeat to Fluminense.

The first team debut capped what has been a remarkable month for Gabriel Veron. He was named player of the tournament at the Under 17 World Cup as Brazil lifted the trophy on home turf. Palmeiras reacted quickly by tying him up to a new contract until 2024 and with a €100m release clause.

Veron, named after Argentina legend Juan Sebastián Verón, is a tricky winger or forward blessed with pace and an incredible dribbling ability and is regarded as the most talented Palmeiras academy graduate since Gabriel Jesus.

Linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid, the sky is the limit for Veron who will be hoping for more opportunities to showcase his talents in the final three matches of the 2019
Brasileirão, as he continues his progression to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
