Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – African Footballer of the Year 2015

Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang narrowly beat Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure to win the Confederation of African Football’s Player of the Year award.
The prolific Borussia Dortmund forward, received 143 votes to four-time winner Yaya Toure’s 136 to become the first player from Gabon to claim the prestigious award.
Despite Gabon being eliminated in the first round of the 2015 African Nations Cup and Borussia Dortmund only finishing 7th in the Bundesliga, the striker has been prolific over the last 12 month scoring 41 goals for club and country. So far this season he has scored 18 goals in 17 league games and 27 goals in all competitions for BVB.
The 26-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Thanks to my Father and Mother thanks to my son and his Mom thanks to my family to my friends to my teammates @bvb09 and from Gabon national team thanks to my fans and thanks God and everybody.”
